Odisha has announced a night curfew in the urban areas of the state. Earlier, the night curfew was only imposed on the 10 districts bordering Chhattisgarh. Now, the restriction has been extended to urban areas of all 30 districts due to a spike in the Covid-19 cases.

The chief secretary also said that a weekend lockdown would be imposed in urban areas of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri districts from Saturday for an indefinite period.
